From the selection of a native plant palette that references regional assemblages, to wooden bench paneling that assumes a liquid quality, the design features simple, honest materials that are true to their origins, yet inspired in their applications.

The Rubey Park Transit Center remodel, which is currently under construction, embraces sustainable initiatives such as a green roof integrated with solar panels and a green wall system enveloping the architecture. The site design greatly improves vehicle, bus and pedestrian circulation through the elimination of barriers, bettering of sightlines, and minimization of circulation conflicts.

At Hallam Lake, a new center for experiential learning and nature play has come to life to help ACES young explorers connect with hydrologic processes and ecological restoration firsthand. Receiving stormwater runoff from the Rio Grande Parking Plaza, captured flows are redirected and filtered through a tiered system that features a meandering stream, cobble beach, and extended stepping stone fingers

Designed in 1972 by the Texas modernist architect Victor Lundy, the family home recently changed hands and is receiving a 21st-century update with a restoration of the original structure and an architectural addition conceived by 1st Friday Architects.
