woods edge

A blossoming garden landscape transforms an art collector’s secluded property in Aspen, Colorado. By melding the native woodland landscape with artistic modern design and plantings, Bluegreen creates an engaging landscape with functional spaces while preserving the natural woodland character of the site.

A lushly planted boulder wall transitions from the daylily and lavender-lined auto court to the architecture where mature spruce and aspens are preserved. Planting beneath a porte cochère announces the front entry to the home. Hillside gardens create circulation to the rear yard through blossoming woodland plantings and mature trees. Integral lighting provides a subtle but dramatic glow at night to further heighten the experience. Graceful planting beds integrate with stone patios to contain the lawn area and are viewed from the terraces above. Careful plant selection within the planting beds frames views of Aspen Mountain. Stone pathways pierce the lawn and transition to informal art walks through the native wildflower meadows.
