This project emphasizes the greater landscape through Asian-influenced design concepts that accentuate unsurpassed views of the mountains. The site's natural amenities are exemplified and interpreted as themes throughout the design. Stone, water and topography are manipulated to create interest while blending into the mountain context.
Water, texture and a simple black and white color palette are key elements of the site. Water is found at the spa, stream, and pool that tie upper and lower topographic benches. The site's contouring accentuates the outdoors, captures long views and creates interesting forms that act as a backdrop to the family's changing lives. Low stone walls meander throughout, direct views, create outdoor rooms and define the great lawn.
Although invisible, sustainable systems such as geothermal heating and cooling and saline purification of the pool reduce the project's footprint on the earth and significantly improve the home's operating and maintenance costs. Bluegreen teams with general contractor Brikor, architect Stone Fox and water feature designer Water and Stone on this award-winning project. Gratia is the recipient of the 2007 Colorado Chapter of the ASLA Honor Award and is featured in the November 2015 issue of Architectural Digest.
